A Day Trip to Okeechobee: Key Lime Pie Quest at Parrott Island Grill
Yesterday, I decided to take a spontaneous day trip to Okeechobee, FL. My mission? To sample one of the best key lime pies in Florida at Parrott Island Grill, which is part of XploreGEO’s “The Best Key Lime Pie in Florida” quest.
The adventure started in Pahokee, FL, and in true Florida fashion, the weather was all over the place. As I drove through a downpour, I couldn’t help but laugh at how typical this was—one side of the road was drenched, while the other side basked in sunshine. By the time I reached Parrott Island Grill, the skies had cleared, revealing a bright, sunny day. Florida weather, right? 🌦☀
I arrived at Parrott Island Grill and immediately got to work on some marketing videos for XploreGEO. The restaurant’s charming exterior provided the perfect backdrop. Once inside, a cheerful hostess greeted me and seated me on the patio, giving me a great view and a fantastic atmosphere.
I was all set to dive into the key lime pie right away, but I ended up chatting with a woman named Polly at the bar who turned out to be a social media manager. She started helping me with video tips and tricks, and soon enough, she was downloading the XploreGEO app and joining in on the quest. 📱✨
Before jumping into the pie, we decided to try an appetizer: coconut shrimp with mango chutney dipping sauce. And wow, it was incredible! The shrimp were crispy and delicious, and the chutney was the perfect sweet-tangy complement. It was, hands down, the best coconut shrimp I’ve ever had. 🍤🍹
Then, it was time for the main event: the key lime pie. We decided to share a slice, and the waiter was kind enough to let us film the whole thing. We took so many pictures and videos that the whipped cream started to melt in the Florida heat, but it was worth it. The pie was phenomenal—creamy with just the right amount of tartness and a hint of extra lime. The graham cracker crust was thin and perfectly crumbly. We both gave it two thumbs up. 🥧👍
After enjoying the pie, we opened the XploreGEO app, checked in at Parrott Island Grill, and earned points and coins for our efforts. We also completed some fun challenges, like reviewing the pie and taking selfies with it, which earned us even more rewards. By the end of the day, I was number one on the leader board, and Polly (my new friend) had jumped to third place. 📸🏆
Looking back, the day was everything I could have hoped for. I enjoyed a scenic drive around Lake Okeechobee, discovered a fantastic restaurant, made a new friend, and tasted yet another delicious key lime pie. I’ve had seven slices of key lime pie this week alone, and each one has its own unique twist, making it hard to pick a favorite. But with the help of XploreGEO fans, I’m confident we’ll find the best key lime pie in Florida. 🚗🥧
This trip was an amazing blend of travel, great food, and fun social media moments. Here’s to more adventures and even more key lime pie!
